The COMPETITORS Program now has two levels

The wall handstand exercise for stronger shoulder and chest.

ADVANCED Competitors Program

Is suitable for those with at least 1-2 years CrossFit experience and are proficient and can perform multiple unbroken repetitions in muscle ups and strict handstand push ups.

This program is aimed at those athletes looking to compete in the CrossFit Quarterfinals, with aspirations of Semifinals and even the CrossFit Games.

INTERMEDIATE Competitors Program

Is suitable for those who want to train for fitness competitions but don’t yet have consistency in skills like muscle ups and strict handstand push ups.

The Intermediate program still follows the same structure and periodisation as the advanced competitors program but has suitable modifications in workouts for the higher skill gymnastic movements and also has progressions and drills targeted towards bringing up these skills.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Is the program individualised?

I describe the Starr Strength system as a hybrid program model. It is a centralised, group-based program template, with individualisation that is delivered through our strength/endurance/gymnastics bias streams, and coach consultations to provide any targeted programming as needed. We also provide video feedback for technique as needed, and guide each individual athlete to carry out the program in the way that they need to get what they need from it. Over the years we have found that this hybrid model produces the best results on average, due to a combination of benefits from both group and individual models.

Q. How much contact will I have with the coach?

Athletes can book a coach video consultation whenever they like, however, we book a minimum of 2 consults within the first 2 weeks, and then at least 1 every 4 weeks thereafter. Additionally, the athletes have continual access to the coaches by direct message, with a guaranteed response time of 24hrs (but usually much sooner). Athletes can message questions at any time or send videos for feedback. The coaches are also active on the Train Heroic app checking results, responding to questions, and providing feedback.

Q. Does the program help me plan around my competitions?

The Starr Strength program is predominantly periodised around the CrossFit Games Open, Quarter Finals and Semi Finals. Throughout the year, there will be periods where we will offer in-season and off-season program options in order to cater for athletes at different stages in their competitive season.

With regards to local comps and smaller events, Starr strength athletes will be advised on how to adjust their training to peak for these events during their individual consultation process.

Q. Im not a fire breather. Im just trying to qualify for the quarterfinals, is this program too advanced for me?
Not at all. We have two levels of the competitors’ programs, Advanced and Intermediate. Intermedimediate is for those who are yet to consistently perform unbroken muscle ups and shspu.
Q. How do the additional program streams work?
The streams (strength, gymnastics and endurance) are part of how we individualise your program and experience and are usually additional to the main program but can be instead of.
From the contact you have with the coaches you will be assigned to follow different program streams based on what you need at that point in your lifecycle as an athlete.
Q. Can I cancel at anytime?

Yes, you can cancel at any time. If and when you do your account will be active until the end of the current 4 weeks you have paid for.
